A Message from the Mayor
I hope everyone survived the snowstorms and cold weather this winter had brought and hopefully spring has finally arrived and with lots of sun and warmer temperatures.
This winter many roads were severely damaged in Nassau County. We have been in contact with the County Department of Public Works and have been assured that as soon as the weather permits they will be working on all those potholes.
As you were notified, the Nassau County Office of Emergency Management in cooperation with our Emergency Management Office held a second program at Village Hall in connection with preparing in advance for natural disasters. I am happy to report it was a very successful meeting with many in attendance and the meeting was extremely informative and educational. Those residents that did attend received free emergency back pack kits. If you missed out on either program we will be having another one on Tuesday, June 9th, 2015 at 7:30 pm. More information will be available shortly so be sure to check the Village website for updates.
The Ritz Carlton Residences are presently under construction and the on-site sales office is officially open. We expect the community to be a wonderful enhancement to the Village.
We are in the process of beautifying the area at the entrance to the Village Hall and we will thereafter undertake an extensive planting program in other areas of the Village.
The shuttle service has increased with more residents taking advantage of this service. The shuttle service continues from Monday to Friday, with scheduled departures from Village Hall from 6:35 A.M. to 9:00 A.M. to the Manhasset Train Station and returning to Village Hall from the Manhasset Train Station from 4:55 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Please remember that you must have a shuttle pass in order to use the shuttle. You can obtain a pass by coming to the Village office between the hours of 9 A.M. and 5 P.M. and the staff will be glad to assist you.
As you are aware the Village will be holding an election this year on Tuesday, June 16th, 2015 at the Village Hall. Polls are open from 12 noon to 9 P.M. You must be a registered voter to vote. Applications to register to vote in elections in Nassau County are available in the Village office.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Deputy Mayor Dennis Sgambati, Trustee Phyllis Lentini, Trustee Elliott Arnold and Trustee Gail Cohen for their continued support and diligent service to the Village of North Hills.
